RHYME MEETS REASON

Gerry began his advertising career at the former Messner, Vetere agency (now Havas), first as a database developer and later as a copywriter, working on the Dunkin’ Donuts, MCI and Volvo accounts.

That unusual mix of skills — copy and code — has served Gerry well over the years, particularly as advertising has moved online and smart data management has become central to client success.

At smaller agencies Free Enterprise and Hyperbolous, where wearing multiple hats was the norm, it was not unusual for Gerry to conduct the market research, write the ads and analyze the results for the same campaign.

He now brings those hats to O’Reilly Communications, where he never loses sight of the fact that while the numbers matter, they’re nothing without a great story to drive them.

Gerry lives in Westchester, NY, with his wife, twin teens, assorted older relatives, and the ever-faithful Shorty, whose claim to the title “Dumbest Dog in America” remains uncontested at the time of this writing.
